Freshly Picked Strawberrys

While celebrating music, art and culture have become the focus of RedFest, the true reason behind the festival is the humble strawberry!

Last year our longest running sponsor, Wellington Point Farm, supplied over 2 tonnes of strawberries which were eagerly consumed by festival-goers. The iconic Wellington Point Farm grows the 'Ruby' strawberry, which is renowned to be one of the juciest and tastiest berry varieties.

And not only are our Strawberries tasty, they're also good for you!

The Strawberry has been ranked 4th best amongst all fruits, in terms of its antioxidant capacity. It is amongst the top 50 antioxidant sources. Strawberries contain an array of phytonutrients which include, anthocyanins, ellagitannins, flavonols, terpenoids and phenolic acids. It has excellent levels of vitamin C, is rich in manganese and dietary fiber, has very good amounts of folate, iodine and potassium and appreciable levels of magnesium, vitamin K and omega 3 fatty acids, while at the same time is low in calories and has zero cholesterol.

This year there will be even more ways to get your hands (and mouth) around our delicious berries with plentiful punnets for sale, strawberry ice-creams, strawberry and champagne cocktails at the bar and home-made strawberry jam in the 'Teas Me Devonshire Tea shop. You can also participate in our world famous strawberry eating competitions with cash prizes up for grabs. If you can't wait for RedFest, you can get started early with our pop-up RedFest preview at Stockland Cleveland, Saturday 2nd September from 9am - 12 noon.

So while you're enjoying the music, do yourself a favour and grab some of the fabulous, locally grown strawberries on offer at RedFest... after all, it is a Strawberry Festival!
