The Joe Howell building will be host to Redlands Creative Alliance, a new venue for the Alliance and a new venture for RedFest this year.
A not for profit group, Redland's Creative Alliance was an initiative created by Redland's City Council but in late 2010 a local artist took over and ran it as a not for profit voluntary organisation.
A visual arts exhibition was held in 2013 at Redland's Performing Arts Centre(RPAC). This exhibition was part of the Ignite Redlands Light Art Festival celebrating local arts through light. RPAC displayed the Alliance's month long exhibition and since then have displayed works of some of the over 400 members each year since. Since 2017 Redland's Museum also feature Alliance member visual artists in an exhibition in their gallery.
This year the Alliance will be incorporated with an intention to function as an networking organisation for artists of all interests, collaborating and communicating to all creative individuals and groups in Redland City. We will be promoting and organising events, classes, exhibits, competitions and displays and be a united arts community and voice within the Redlands.
There will be an opportunity to have conversations with artists, maybe join a group or sign up for a class. Artworks will be displayed, some for sale and art demonstrations for you to try out your skills. Amongst the stalls are art therapists, Redland's Vietnam Veterans' Art Group, RICArts - from Russell Island, a printmaking, singer/song writer, photographers and ceramics. You can also find out about the Old Schoolhouse Gallery and Redland Art Gallery.
Times: Fri 5pm to 7pm; Sat 10.30am to 5pm; Sun 9am to 4pm.
