RedFest is kicking it’s 60th year off in fine style on Friday night with an infusion of Irish cheer! So get your jig dancing shoes on and come and enjoy the ‘craic’ with authentic Irish music from Dublin ensemble the Barleyshakes.
Our host for the night will be storyteller, poet and singer/songwriter Joe Lynch, who has enthralled audiences at the Woodford, Cygnet, Tamar Valley and National Folk festivals. His romantic stories will take you out past the milky way and deep inside your own heart.
Following Joe, the Barleyshakes will get you reeling with a Celtic Bush Dance, before the multi-award winning Celtic-rock ensemble Murphy’s Pigs have you singing your heart out, stamping your feet and dancing like a loon! Murphy’s Pigs have performed at some mighty fine gigs including the world’s largest Celtic Festival, the Woodford Folk Festival, The Tamworth Country Music Festival and even as guests of the Queensland Pops Orchestra to name but a few!
If Irish music and dancing is not your jam, then the Strawberry Plaza will have Brisbane-based Indie Rock/Pop band KB Theory. Blending influences from many different genres with a dose of catchy pop, they’ll leave you wanting more. Their debut single ‘Lights of Tokyo’ received high acclaim from industry reviewers.
There will also be a spectacular fireworks display on Strawberry Fields delivered by Mr Fireworks International. This year’s display will include many large aerial shells, mines, barrages and a customised pyrotechnic setpiece to celebrate RedFest’s 60th year.
So come and grab a drink at the bar, enjoy this wonderful night of entertainment and help us kick off RedFest’s 60th year in style!
