Welcome to the 60th anniversary of the RedFest Strawberry Festival

16 August 2018 | Updated: 11:43am, 17 August 2018

RedFest Strawberry Festival holds many special memories for the hundreds of thousands of people that have attended the festival over the past 60 years. I can still recall my first ever Strawberry Festival - I was 5 years old, riding in the passenger seat of a float in the street parade with my Dad and brothers, eating the delicious strawberry ice creams, participating in the many free workshops and activities and enjoying the entertainment on offer with my family.

Now as President and Festival Director, I am extremely proud to deliver the 60th RedFest Strawberry Festival alongside the incredible volunteer committee who have for the past 12 months worked extremely hard to organise an incredible festival which celebrates Redlands’ history, culture and heritage. The 2018 festival also pays homage to the thousands of people who have volunteered their time and energy over the past six decades to make this festival an outstanding success, because without them, the festival would simply not be here today.

There is no doubt that the festival has come a long way, but what hasn’t changed is the pride of place RedFest Strawberry Festival holds in the hearts of the many residents and visitors right across Redlands Coast, Queensland and Australia. As one of Australia’s oldest and largest festivals, RedFest Strawberry Festival has and continues to provide plenty of fun and enjoyment for the thousands of people that attend and this year promises to be no exception.

About the 2018 festival program:

RedFest Strawberry Festival is proud to present an exceptional line-up of entertainment for the whole family with over 50+ live performances including Aria Award winning, Australian electronic rock band Rogue Traders who will have the festival thriving in party mode on Saturday night and to conclude the festivities, we are fortunate to have one of Australia’s most respected artists Ross Wilson performing live on Sunday afternoon.

Not only is this year’s program jam packed with the very best entertainment - the program also provides high quality activities, workshops, displays and exhibitions which is sure to keep you and your family busy for the entire weekend – all included in the one low festival ticket price.

With favourites such as the World Famous Strawberry Eating Competition, the delicious strawberry ice creams, spectacular lantern parade, two nights of incredible fireworks, free hands on activities including strawberry pot painting, lantern making, beading and art workshops, free face painting, free circus workshops, dance and physical fitness workshops there really is something for the whole family to enjoy. And for the first time in many years all festival attendees will receive free entry into the Redlands Museum during the festival.

RedFest Strawberry Festival is the only festival run by the community for the community and we are fortunate to have the Redland City Chamber of Commerce involved in this year’s festival. Make sure you pop over and say hello to the many local businesses that will be on display showcasing their products and services throughout the festival.

Also, check out the many great local stallholders located around the festival including fresh, locally grown strawberries from the Wellington Point Farm which will be on sale during the festival so make sure you get a punnet or two to take home or enjoy the many strawberry flavoured food and drinks from our great range of South East Queensland’s Finest Food Trucks.

Special thanks to the hardworking volunteer committee, the 150+ team strawberry volunteers and our generous 2018 festival sponsors and supporters. RedFest Strawberry Festival would not happen without their ongoing support.
